FROM THE BACK ROOMDARLING / 02—03
A SHARP TONGUE. A QUICKER HAND.
Meet Millie Lottie.
Millie Lottie made her own way up from the bottom of the underworld, and she is perfectly willing to tell you how. The pretty face comes with a sharp tongue, a decisive streak, and very little hesitation when the moment calls for blood.
She grew up enslaved aboard a pirate ship. Forced to marry its captain, she killed him on their wedding night and escaped while the ship was docked in Limsa Lominsa. She tells that story openly. The climb that followed belongs to her, too.
A sharp tongue. A quicker hand.
Now she carries the title of the Magician. Tarot lends its symbols to her world; curiosity about the cards, the title, or the woman behind them is a fine place to begin. How much you learn depends on the conversation.
Her sarcasm is easy to find. Her affection takes a little more knowing. With the right people, Millie can be warm, loving, and unexpectedly tender. With the wrong ones, she acts quickly—and she enjoys killing far too much to make a convincing apology for it.
Bring her something to spar with: a clever remark, a question worth answering, an ambition that might interest her. There is room here for dangerous business, cutting banter, and the slower work of earning someone’s trust.

♠ THE HOUSE RULE
Trade in introductions, not assumptions. Every rumour needs a willing scene partner.
I.
A port with a past.
Millie speaks openly about the pirate ship, the forced marriage, and the captain who did not survive their wedding night. A sailor, dockside regular, or fellow survivor might find a conversation here that goes well beyond polite introductions.
Write the first encounter
Ask how she got free. Talk about the harbour. Offer a perspective on the life she left behind. Any prior connection to her ship or its crew should be agreed with the player first.
II.
The Magician’s table.
The title is hers to wear openly. Tarot, mysticism, and the meaning of the Magician offer an opening for the curious, the sceptical, or someone with a fascination of their own.
Follow your curiosity
Ask what the title means to her. Bring your own interpretation of a card. Challenge her with a question. Let the conversation uncover what she chooses to share.
For those with aether sight: there may be something unusual to notice beneath the surface. Discuss what your character could perceive with the player first; the cause is something to discover through RP.
III.
Business, with teeth.
She clawed her way up through the underworld. An ambitious contact, a potential rival, or someone with a dangerous proposition could have a reason to seek her out. Expect sarcasm; remember how readily she turns to violence.
Make her an offer
Pitch a deal or a rivalry with the player. For a quieter scene, trade sharp remarks and see where the conversation goes. Trust and affection have a place in her story, too.
BEHIND THE PAGESOUT OF CHARACTER
THE PLAYER BEHIND THE CURTAIN
Off the record.
DARLING is a character showcase and Gpose magazine for Millie Lottie in FINAL FANTASY XIV.
The fiction stays in the fiction.
The editorial introduces Millie’s public history and personality. Your character’s knowledge of those details should fit the scene. RP hooks are invitations to collaborate; discuss shared history before treating it as established.
Dark themes, discussed together.
Millie’s story includes enslavement, forced marriage, murder, and an enjoyment of violence. Agree on the tone and boundaries for those themes before bringing them into a scene. Her capacity for affection also leaves room for humour, trust, and quieter character writing.
A scene starts with a conversation.
Discuss the premise and boundaries with the player before treating a suggested hook as shared history. In-character impressions and out-of-character knowledge belong in separate places.
An unofficial fan character project. FINAL FANTASY XIV belongs to its respective rights holders.
